BOSAQ

Water that Saves the World

BOSAQ designs and manufactures premium drinking water installations for remote applications. They help tackle the water crisis by providing sustainable self-sufficient drinking water in an ecological and socially friendly manner. 10% of their profits go to a non-profit organization – Water Heroes.

The BOSAQ team has engineered the SolarAQ, a long-lasting, cost-effective, and durable water treatment system designed to treat any water source including sea, fresh, rain, and brackish water. The design requires a compact size and low power consumption as it is self-sustaining through a solar array.

The SolarAQ requires a UV LED disinfection system that allows for renewable or battery power options and had a compact footprint to enable the system to be portable. The SolarAQ is equipped with robust membrane technology along with the cutting-edge AquiSense PearlAqua Micro™. A UV-C LED solution was chosen due to its

  • potential to be driven from a renewable/battery voltage source
  • compact footprint
  • lightweight

Wananchi Purification Systems

Enabling tough mobile water purification systems for defense and mobile water treatment applications

Wananchi UK manufactures tough, reliable, high-quality mobile water purification systems designed to withstand the harshest of conditions to produce pure, drinking water direct from the source.

It is a product design company based in Fareham, UK and was established in 2010 as an R&D company with the core purpose of developing and bringing to market mobile water purification systems. Its primary market is defense and first-response water treatment.

Defense and first response teams have historically avoided using conventional UV disinfection units due to their demanding requirements. Fragile quartz lamp and sleeves are not robust enough to withstand harsh conditions and overall space and weight requirements were often exceeded for traditional UV sources and their electronic drivers. These teams now have a proven technology to secure their drinking water in these difficult and remote environments.

Guzzle H2O

A new compact and portable water purification system for boating, camping, and emergency preparedness

Guzzle H2O is a startup founded in September 2017 as a collaboration between Bech Marine, a product design company specializing in forward-thinking products for unmanned air systems, marine, consumer, and outdoor products and Sean Couvreux, a world champion professional sailor. Since then, Guzzle H2O has developed clean water systems for a variety of outdoor lifestyles with the goal of reducing the use of single-use plastic water bottles.

The PearlAqua Micro has enabled Guzzle H2O to create an entirely new category of water purification for outdoor adventuring applications: portable purification. Each boat, camp site, and RV can have its own low-cost water purification system, allowing distributed access to drinking water while reducing plastic waste. It is easy to use and does not affect the taste of the water. Guzzle H2O hasadvanced their orginial offering of the Guzzle Spigot to a broader product line including robust systems for treating fresh water, under sink installations, and onboard installations for boats, vehicles, and trailers.

LOOPZ

Enabling portable and sustainable shower products with water reuse at its core

Loopz provides a portable shower with the benefits of long showers with less water use. The Loopz endless shower is a sustainable and durable shower design that reuses water with advanced water treatment. The innovative endless shower recycles water with advanced filtration and a pump.

Loopz worked with AquiSense Technologies to select the proper UV-C LED module for their shower product that will provide the proper disinfection needed while still offering low power consumption.

Together, Loopz and AquiSense selected the PearlAqua Micro™ as the ideal tool for UV disinfection as it provides a compact and sustainable solution.

Ecocapsule

Enabling sustainable living

Ecocapsule designs and manufactures microhomes with a sustainable vision. They offer smart, mobile, and self-sustaining pop-up homes for any occasion or environment. The homes utilize both solar and wind energy for their power and rain collection to mitigate the need for bottled water.

Ecocapsule strongly believes in sustainable development. They offer a housing alternative that fully utilizes the latest innovative technological solutions, enables people to connect in harmony with nature, and at the same time minimizes negative impact on the environment.

The ideal solution for Ecocapsule is the PearlAqua Micro, a UV-C LED system for point-of-use disinfection. The PearlAqua Micro provides instantaneous disinfection with a pathogen inactivation rating of 99.99%. PearlAqua Micro offers a sustainable solution for water disinfection with low power consumption, no harmful materials, and has a low replacement interval.

BIOWYSE

Biocontamination integrated control of wet systems for space exploration

BIOWYSE is a European Union funded program that aims to address biocontamination issues in manned space habitats. The intent of the project is to develop an integrated chemical-free system to control and monitor biomass growth in potable water aboard the ISS.

AquiSense Europe, based in the UK is part of a pan-European consortium of nine companies and institutions that includes Italian company, Thales Alenia Space, a major supplier to the International Space Station.

The BIOWYSE project required a compact solution to control biomass growth in the integrated water handling system in both recirculation and direct delivery modes. AquiSense has developed an advanced UV-C LED water Decontamination Module that is currently being laboratory and field tested by the BIOWYSE consortium. The patent protected UV-C LED Decontamination Module includes a number of advanced technologies.

A UV-C LED solution from AquiSense was chosen due to:

  • High durability (e.g. vibration resistance)
  • Lightweight design
  • Extended lifetime through smart operation
  • Advanced system monitoring and control capabilities
